Low Carb Dirty Cabbage with Smoked Turkey Sausage

Cabbage has never tasted this good! 😍 Giving this classic a ‘Dirty’ twist with smoked turkey sausage and ground beef. It’s low-carb, keto-friendly, and packed with flavor! 🥩🥬

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef (Lean or Medium)
  • 1 package (approx. 12-14 oz) Smoked Turkey Sausage (Sliced into rounds)
  • 1 medium Green Cabbage (Chopped into triangles or bite-sized pieces)
  • 1 large Green Bell Pepper (Sliced)
  • 1 medium Onion (Sliced)
  • Spices: 2 tbsp Cajun Seasoning, 1 tsp Garlic Powder, 1 tsp Onion Powder, Salt & Pepper (to taste).
  • Optional: Red pepper flakes for extra heat.

Instructions

  1. Sear the Sausage: In a large deep skillet or wok, add the sliced turkey sausage. Sprinkle with a little Cajun seasoning and sear until both sides are browned and slightly crispy. Remove and set aside.
  2. Brown the Beef: In the same pan, add the ground beef. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, and more Cajun seasoning. Cook until fully browned. (Drain excess fat if preferred, but keep some for flavor).
  3. Prep the Cabbage: While the meat cooks, clean the cabbage, remove the core, and cut it into thick triangles.
  4. The “Dirty” Mix: Add the chopped cabbage, bell peppers, and onions directly on top of the cooked beef. Do not add water; the cabbage will release its own moisture.
  5. Steam & Season: Sprinkle the remaining spices over the veggies. Cover with a lid and cook on medium-low heat for 10–12 minutes.
  6. Combine: Once the cabbage is tender and “melted” into the meat juices, stir everything together. Add the seared sausages back in and toss well.
  7. Finish: Let it simmer uncovered for 2 more minutes to let the flavors meld. Serve hot!
